Help Save 6Music

Posted by King - 4-Mar-10, 13:26 - 3 comments
In case I haven't already made it clear the BBC's Director-General Mark Thompson (who appears to be a particularly twatty man wit zero taste and no sense of humour) has decided the BBC radio station 6Music should be shut down to allow its paltry budget to go to more meaningful output on BBC 3 such as Snog, Marry, Avoid and Hotter than my daughter.

This makes me sad.

It has also prompted me to actually do something about it and so (as you probably know) I have contacted the BBC telling them why it's abd idea, joined the facebook group, signed the petition and even Tweeted with the #Save6music hashtag (whatever one of those it).

This thread is to encourage, ask, beg, request, plead and bully you all to add your voice to mine in any way you can be bothered.

So at the very least

Sign the Petition: http://www.petition.fm/petitions/6musicasiannet/1000/

(Very easy, very quick)

or

Join the Facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=278123313911

(Also easy)

If you're feeling strong, fill in the BBC Online Survey (especially question 5): https://consultations.external.bbc.co.uk/de...on/consult_view

(Kind of a drag but much more effective than either of the first two I should think)

If you can't face all that Survey nonsense just e-mail: srconsultation@bbc.co.uk

(Probably as effective as the survey)

For more info http://www.jrhunt.co.uk/2010/03/02/how-to-save-6music/ seems to have it all laid out very nicely.

And as a nice dead donkey; go to YouTube to see Dan Bull's open musical letter to the BBC which is very good and quite funny http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soGKRMb8p0U
I'm not sure how many of you (if any) listen to 6Music (you all should as it plays the sort of stuff we all like without adverts and with only one really annoying DJ (I'm looking at you George Lamb)), but even if you don't really care could you please as a favour to me as I will be quite upset if it goes. Oh and it's the home of the Adam and Joe Show; if that's not a reason I don't know what is.

Roll up Roll up, take advantage of a grand opportunity to attend a snowboard/ ski holiday with me. I know you want to. I'm happy to organise so long as I get the comfiest bed.

Things I need to know if you are interested in a group holiday to the mountains - either Canada OR Europe

1. WHAT is your name
2. WHAT is the number of people you wish me to book for (i.e are you bringing a plus 1?)
3. WHAT is your budget
4. WHAT is your preferred location and type of accommodation
5. WHAT are your special requests in terms of transport type, dietry requirements, need for equipment hire and lessons.
6. WHAT are your preferred dates - don't say half term -

That's it. I am researching this weekend and want to book within the next fortnight, if not before that. I would like to get a catered chalet for a group but it all depends on cost and group size.

Of course. No one may want to come on holiday with me because of the er - well you know - the body odour issue. This I can live with, so be honest. I just thought I would advertise as I know over the past year we have all been murmering and muttering about the possibility of joining each other plank riding but no one has really done much about it.

Ta Ta.

Reading old posts

Posted by jonnyploy - 9-Oct-09, 13:09 - 3 comments
I recently read the Films topic from start to finish and really enjoyed it. I recommend that everyone do the same.

It made me think about my favourite ever posts on Badgerfest and favourite exchanges of opinion. I particularly enjoyed disagreeing with Gov on V for Vendetta at the time, and I enjoyed re-reading that too.

Also, the fact that we have yet to discover a film which both Ween and King like made me chuckle.

Which posts / topics does everyone else enjoy going back and reading?

One rule: Sammyboy's guide to the Badgerfest clan is excluded from the options as it is too good.
